Sew tastic

Belle chewed up her favorite ballet tshirt. So we decided to upcycle it into a new bag for ballet. Her old one is getting a little "babyish" anyway. Phoebe loves to sew, she helped make her current school bag, also. This wasn't even a stretch for her, for mommy a little, but for her--no. She stays super focused and sews a straighter seam than her mama. If we would use a pattern, she could probably cut it better than me. But we were winging it as usual.

And this is her result! We ironed on interfacing and lined the back of the tshirt with green and white polka dot so it is one huge pocket. The inside of the bag is lined with the same and has a little pocket for hair bands. We used extra strips of tshirt to braid and make flowers--hides the spot we had to fudge in a little grey to straighten it out. Overall very cute and functional! Very proud of her.

How you feeling?

At the doctor for Annika today. Thought she might have strep, but it was just a virus (she passed it on to me later). But the best part of the visit was when we asked Tanner how he was feeling.

He replied, "I feel WHITE."

To the very dark African American nurse.

Nice. Luckily we all had a good laugh.

Then tonight Phoebe had a one liner of her own. I went up to scold the girls for being loud and that they needed to go to sleep. She starts giggling and asks me, "Mama, are you smiling on the inside right now?" How cute is that?

Good moments.

Before and After

Tanner is a busy boy. Tanner has restless leg syndrome. So Tanner pretty much falls wherever he is when he finally succumbs to sleep. And because of the RLS, and the sleepwalking, and talking, and extremely vivid dreams he changes positions usually and can be quite funny. We finally realized he doesn't know he comes to our bed in the middle of the night. Many mornings he sits up and looks around like how the heck did I get here? So now we are just enjoying his antics and saving them for posterity. :) Hee Hee.

This is what happens to Belle after Tanner.

Notice in the close up: nutty bar in his hand, jelly on his face, surrounded by toys. At least I got him in jammies that night. And here is the full perspective:

Angry angry birds

Yes, my husband and children are obsessed. This little game is crazy. Thank goodness we didn't catch this craze until just recently. So one night Jeff was playing (and not sharing according to the children) so Annika decided to use her new Bendaroos to make her own birds and pig. Then she built this castle. And found two long balloons to make a catapult. Tada! Her very own game. She says it isn't quite as fun, but I got a kick out of it.

Sledding

We went with our good friends the Kristoffs. There is Tanner in his red coat and camo hat, Annika has a black coat and teal Perry the Platypus hat, and Phoebe is in a hot pink and lime green coat with black snow pants. I got a few good shots, but my battery froze up pretty quickly in that cold. Although it was super sunny so it felt good to us!

Love love love this closeup I caught of their giddiness going down right past me.

We realized once we got to the hill that Tanner is ready for his own sled. That little dude has no fear and was a trooper going up and down the hill. We already knew that the girls love sledding and we would be out there for awhile. They have been out for at least an hour a day since the white stuff finally fell. If they are that happy to be out, then bring it on. I could deal with several more inches!
