Shicken

Tanner has always called his favorite meat shicken.
Last night at dinner he announced, "I finally said chicken!"  It made us all laugh out loud the way he said it.  But it was also a little sad.  I will miss shicken.  We have fewer and fewer family words.

On another note, Belle the dog has bladder stones.  She passed TWELVE yesterday and some of them were the size of pea gravel!  We are hoping that she will pass most of them so we do not have to have surgery.  The vet says she came to us with a bladder full of them.  Possibly why we have had so many issues with potty training.  So we are also hoping that this helps, if not fixes, that as well.

And I think this one is funny.  I was the middle school pe teacher today.  HA!  Not where I belong for sure, but we had a very good time today.  I kept them busy, and then sent them back all sweaty and stinky.  Heehee

Daddy time and a roll of tape

I met with a friend to talk about homeschooling, Jeff was working on paperwork, and the children found a roll of blue painters tape.  I found these on my phone when I got done, sent to me from Jeff's phone.
I think he looks like Colonel Sanders.  I love the pose.
Phoebe reminds me of Lady Gaga with her blue eyelashes and jewelry...you can't see the rings and bracelets.

And of course Annika saw it as a moneymaking opportunity.  Here is her commercial.  She asked Jeff, "How much does a roll of tape cost?"
He replied, "About $3."
Annika thinking aloud, "So if I can sell six mustaches for 50 cents apiece the rest is money in my pocket..."
Oh dear, another money schemer in the house!

Daddy will refer to this later...

And he may even use it against her.  LOL!

Willie

We went to see Willie Nelson with Dad and Mom.  We had such a good time.  Willie is an amazing guitar player and songwriter.  I remembered lots of his songs.  So many of them are poetic or really funny.  A good mix.  We were on a tight schedule, but that ended up being more fun because we hit a restaurant before for nachos and a different after for another appetizer.
It is always fun to be out with my hubby.  We have done a lot better this year making sure we get time to connect just the two of us.  That time is so important and our relationship shows that we are making each other important again.  So glad I am married to him for so many reasons.  One is that he is a night owl, because I was asleep before we even left the parking space.  LOL  And he let me sleep, which is even better.

Tendrils and Toads

I did a scrapbook page once called ballet and bugs, now I have another one that shows both sides of Phoebe.  She is so fun...such an interesting mix of girly girly girl and then that keen interest in science and not afraid of the squishy.  Super shy, and insanely loud and giggly.  Singing loudly at home and then silent at school.
For Easter she wore a super frilly dress from Granny and we rolled her hair in socks the night before so her hair would be in long tendril curls.  She found all of her pearly accessories and was sooo cute all glammed up.
Then last week she became obsessed with toads.  She built them a full blown habitat and was able to keep for them for several days before they escaped.  Every day she came home from school and would find slugs and roly polys for it.
Her friend S helped find them the first day.  She is a lot like Phoebe when it comes to that cross of glam girl and goo girl.

Annika is BAAAACK

My girl is back.  The one who is funny and silly and giggly and witty.  The one who has a twinkle in her eyes and a spring in her step.  The one who is kind.  The one who comes up with creative crazy things to do.  Not sure exactly why.  Probably is a lot of different things adding up.  I'm just glad she's back.
First photo is her with the robot she made on top of her remote control car.  All by herself.
And this may be a huge piece of the puzzle.  Baseball season.  With the boys, and she is keeping up.  And they ACCEPT her no questions asked.  She is a girl, but they tease her and high five her and throw to her just like they should...as a part of the team.  She is pitching and catching.  She's made it on base a few times.  She has caught a few hits and helped make a few outs. It is a very good thing.

Daddy umped an inning.  Called strikes on her.  Mommy was not impressed.  :)
 Pitching.
At third base.  She made it home, but there was argument over whether it was an overthrow and our coach gave in and back she went.  Too bad...that would have been the winning run instead of a tie.

I love her coach.  You can tell he cares that they learn and have fun.  The two things I wanted most as well.  And she is--she is improving and she loves to go and smiles the whole time.  We couldn't have been luckier.  So far they are 1 win, 1 tie, 2 losses.  I'll keep you posted.  :)

Easter at our House

First I have to say how much I am loving new blogger!  Photos in order, way faster uploads, easy scheduling.  Love love love.  I just might get more blogging done!
So here is a recap of Easter weekend at the Nelsons.  We hosted dinner here, and I was in super planning mode, so we actually got a lot done and had no tears the whole weekend!
First we got all the eggs dyed.  Then the girls made carrot cupcakes.  I forgot to get a photo, but they did everything.  I just oversaw the project. They even did the frosting complete with piped carrots.  They were super cute. They decorated pretzel rods too.

The Easter bunny brought lots and lots of candy, kites, and a few other little things.  Church was actually really good that morning and we enjoyed the service as a family.
Pinterest how I love thee.  Inspired me to wrap the silverware like carrots for the littles.
And create a pretty table and easy flowers.
And I made these placecards that say He is RISEN!
Loved how they turned out and Phoebe was good enough to take these awesome photos for me.
Grandma got the kids these little bird warble whistles.  I remember these as a kid and how much I loved them.  They were a big hit with this new crop of kids too.  Cousin was sooo funny...he would whistle and then spit.  I laughed so hard, much to my brother's chagrin because then cousin kept doing it.  Hee hee.
Outside egg hunt.
Super cute little cousin.  He looks so much like my paternal grandfather!
I always am amazed by how genetics are passed down.
Grandma helps big cousin find eggs.  He did a great job!
We had family friends here as well.  I am so glad they could join us as well.

Everyone brought food, Mom made the ham gravy for us, and it was delicious.  We had such a lovely day.  Reminded me of the big celebrations for Easter as a kid.
And the most important part:  He is RISEN!  Hope you all enjoyed the remembrance of our Savior's resurrection!
